If you see this error during installation, it usually means the installer cannot locate the necessary files in your Downloads folder. Here’s how to resolve it:
1. Check Your User Account
Administrator Access:
Make sure you are logged in as the main administrator (master) user on your computer. If your computer has multiple user accounts (e.g., family members), switch to the main account with full administrative privileges before installing.
2. Verify the Downloads Folder Location
Default Downloads Folder:
The installer looks for files in your operating system’s default Downloads folder:
- macOS: MacintoshHD > Users > [Username] > Downloads
Windows: C:\Users\[User Name]\Downloads
Browser Download Settings:
Chrome: Go to Settings > Downloads, and verify that the download location matches your system default Downloads folder (see your plugin install log for reference).
Safari: Go to Settings > General > File download location, and verify it matches the default location.
Custom Locations:
If you use a custom Downloads folder, please temporarily reset it to the default location above for the installation process. You can change it back after installation.
Installer Location:
For best results, run the installer from your computer’s main drive (ie. 'C' drive on Windows or 'MacintoshHD' on macOS). Running or installing from an external or secondary drive (with a different drive letter such as 'F' or 'G') can cause unpredictable issues.
3. Check Permissions on the Downloads Folder
Full Access Required:
The installer needs full permissions to read and write to your Downloads folder.
macOS:
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders, and ensure that the installer has permission to access the Downloads folder.
Windows:
Right-click on the Downloads folder, select Properties, then go to the Security tab.
Make sure your user account has “Full control.” If not, click Edit and update the permissions.
4. Still Not Working?
- Make sure you have enough free disk space.
Try temporarily disabling any antivirus or security software that might be blocking the installer.
Avoid installing to a cloud-synced or restricted folder (e.g., OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox).
If you have tried all the above and are still having trouble, please open a support ticket. We’re happy to help you resolve the issue!
